Once or often in life, every one faces this challenge of waiting. You can wait for the train, bus, at the hospital and so on.
So, how is it to wait on the Lord?
You wait on something because, you need it. You want to have it, to acquire it or to access it, otherwise it's very easy to give up, because waiting is not something really enjoyable!
Because of the importance you place into the things that you are waiting for, you do persevere and support all uncomfortable issues of waiting. When the situation is beyond your capacity as human beings, you mostly place it into the Lord's hands, and then wait for His reactions.
What to do while you are waiting on the Lord?
There are things that the Bible advices us to do when we are in this periode of life. Lamentations 3:25 tells us that our Lord is good to those who wait on Him, who seeks Him.
There are steps that we can follow up, to help us while waiting on the Lord.
First you have to make sure that what you are waiting for is genuine. That you are not waiting for something that does not exist. You can know it by reading the Bible. All the promises are written in the Bible. There are things that you can not have even if you pray hard to have them. Things that make God coming back to His decision, to His word. We all know that the devil is waiting for eternal fire. This can not be changed even if you intercede for him with so much prayers and groanings.
Secondly you have to be sure that you fulfil all the rquirements to acquire them.
There are blessings for the children of God and there are salaries for the servants? In which category do you belong to? Are you really asking things that you are allowed to?
If not What can you do to be in one or other group of people?
The Bible tells us in Colossians 1:16 that all people are God's creation and in John 3:16 that God loves all of us, but not all are children of God. In 1John 3:10 the Bible tells us that the children of God are those who are saved.
There are blessings reserved for the children of God, read the Bible then start claiming all of them into prayers and supplications. Mathieu 7:7
The third thing is to never cease to pray and thank the Lord. The Bible asks us to pray contantly. It is like pouring water on a planted seed. It helps it to grow.
In 1John 5:14-15 we see that if we fulfil all the requirements and pray according to God's will, then we have been already given what we asked or prayed for.
We must thank our heavenly father as He is faithfully to His words and we know that He accomplishes whatever He promises. On this stage of understanding, the waiting process is made up of thanksgivings.
Practicing patience when God has you waiting.
Sometimes for us but not for God, wait takes too long than what we have been expecting. God's time is not always our time! He plans according to our goods. He sees far than we can see and He knows more than we know. If we really trust Him and believe without doubt that He loves us, that will help us to wait on Him patiently.
Waiting time proves our faith in Him, shows well our really characters and can make us very close to God or too distant to Him.
God uses it mostly to try our faith, not because He doesn't care for us but because He wants to renew our relationship into a new and strong one.
When wait seems too long, just read His words, His promises, draw near to Him, remember His love and what He accomplished before into your life. The previous answered prayers help us to wait on the Lord patiently.
It is also good to meet with believers, listen to their testimonies because whatever you are going through, others before you went through it, and many more after you will have to go through it. It is good to give testimonies once you get your problem answered. Testimonies encourage those in the same situation with you to wait patiently.
Reading always helps us to increase our knowlegde about something, the reason why, I have some books to recommend to whoever wishes to go far in this topic and benefit from it.
